Junk removal prices in North York

Loads are priced by volume. One or two items is $119, a 1/4 load is $259, a 1/2 load is $389, a 3/4 load is $499 and a full load of about 16 cu yd is $599. All prices are in CAD and before 13% HST.

The weight allowance runs from 100 kg on the minimum to 1,000 kg on a full load, and anything over is $250 per tonne from the scale ticket. Photos of the pile and of the way out of the building are enough for a quote, and we confirm the volume when we arrive.

Same-day service is plus $50. Condo jobs are best booked a day or two ahead because the freight elevator usually has to be reserved.

What the City picks up in North York, and what it does not

North York is part of the City of Toronto, so a house here uses the City's oversized and metal items collection. There is no booking. Set the item out beside your garbage bin on garbage day, with 0.5 metres between items. The City page sets no limit on the number of items, and every house and multi-residential unit pays an annual fee, $23.23 for 2026, whether or not it is used.

The curb works for a couch, a mattress or a bed frame. It does not work for a renovation. The City does not collect baseboards, bathtubs, cabinets, countertops, drywall, lumber, roof shingles or tile at the curb, and it does not take household hazardous waste or tires. Carpet has to be bundled at four feet or less and 20 kg or less, and appliance doors must be removed.

Four City depots in North York, and when a pickup still wins

North York has more City drop-off depots than any other district, so driving a load yourself is a real option here. Garbage and renovation waste is $189.86 per tonne with a $19 minimum covering the first 100 kg, and the City takes a deposit of at least $40 before you unload. Metal, including appliances, is $142.40 per tonne and free under 20 kg at Bermondsey, Ingram and Dufferin, but not at Victoria Park. Mattresses are $142.40 per tonne too, and they are accepted only at Dufferin and Commissioners.

Bermondsey and Ingram are the two North York depots that take clean drywall, up to 1 tonne, with nails, screws and metal corner beads removed. Lumber must be 4 feet long or shorter. Concrete, brick, asphalt and soil are refused at every City depot.

A paid pickup makes sense when you do not have a pickup truck, when the items are heavy or up several flights, or when your building will not let you carry debris through the lobby. For a bathroom gut in a house, bathroom demolition starts at $1,200 with hauling up to a 1/2 load included, which spares you the depot run altogether.

Common jobs by North York neighbourhood

North York mixes dense tower neighbourhoods with quiet streets of detached houses, and the jobs tend to follow that split.

Willowdale and North York City Centre

Condo towers cluster along Yonge Street between Finch and Sheppard. A typical job is a move-out or a downsize: a sofa, a dining set, a mattress and a few boxes that will not fit the next place. A fridge, freezer or air conditioner adds plus $30 per unit for refrigerant handling. Single mattress or box spring pickup is $99.

Don Mills, Bayview Village and York Mills

Detached houses with garages and finished basements generate renovation debris. A kitchen tear-out starts at $1,500, with hauling up to a full load included. Garden sheds, mature-tree yard cleanups and a full garage are other common jobs on these streets. Yard waste over 7.5 cm (3 inches) across or 1.2 metres long is refused at the depots, which is where a haul-away helps.

Downsview and Flemingdon Park

Postwar bungalows and semis around Downsview mean basements and garages to clear, and Flemingdon Park has large apartment towers. Move-out days are the busy ones, so send photos early and tell us your building's move-out window.

Condo towers, elevator bookings and access

Most North York towers require you to reserve the freight elevator and sometimes a loading bay. Do that first, then send us the time slot. Tell us which floor, whether the hallway is wide enough for a sectional, and where we park.

The City's oversized item page describes set-out beside a garbage bin and gives no separate steps for multi-residential buildings, so your property manager is the person to ask about bulky items. We do not take paint, propane or chemicals from any building.

How to book in North York

Send photos through the site, get a price, pick a day. We are insured. Renovation jobs can be done as a tear-out plus haul-away in one visit, which saves you the Bermondsey or Ingram drywall run. See our demolition page for Toronto tear-out.
