The included weight runs from 100 kg to 1,000 kg depending on the tier, and extra weight is $250 per tonne from the scale ticket. Backyard jobs run heavy: old patio slabs, soil, brick planters and wet lumber. Heavy material such as concrete, brick, soil or asphalt is from $350 per cu yd, so mention it in your photos.

What Toronto collects at the curb in Scarborough
Scarborough is part of the City of Toronto, so houses use the City's oversized and metal items collection. No booking is needed. Put the item beside your garbage bin on garbage day and leave 0.5 metres between items. The City sets no item limit on that page, and every house and multi-residential unit pays $23.23 a year for 2026 whether or not it uses the service.
What the curb will not take is where Scarborough jobs tend to land. The City does not collect fencing, lumber, bathtubs, cabinets, countertops, tile, drywall, insulation or roof shingles from the curb, and it does not take household hazardous waste or tires. Carpet must be tied in bundles four feet or shorter and 20 kg or lighter, and appliance doors must come off first.
The Transfer Place depot and the drywall and mattress gap
Scarborough has one City depot, the Scarborough Drop-Off Depot at 1 Transfer Place. Other items are accepted Monday to Friday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday, 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. It is closed on Sundays. Garbage and renovation waste is $189.86 per tonne with a $19 minimum covering the first 100 kg, and a deposit of at least $40 is taken before you unload. The City's location page does not list metal or appliances at Transfer Place. Bermondsey, Ingram, Dufferin and Commissioners take metal at $142.40 per tonne, free for loads under 20 kg.
The Transfer Place depot does not take drywall or mattresses. Clean drywall (1 tonne maximum) is accepted at Bermondsey, Ingram and Commissioners only. Mattresses go to Dufferin or Commissioners only, at $142.40 per tonne. All four of those depots are outside Scarborough, so a drywall or mattress run is an extra trip on top of the tipping fee. Concrete, brick, asphalt, soil, sod and grass clippings are not accepted at any depot.
Wood needs prep before the depot. Lumber must be 4 feet (1.2 m) or shorter, and yard waste pieces must be under 7.5 cm (3 inches) across and 1.2 metres long. A deck or a fence has to be cut down before it goes in the car.

| Mattresses and box springs | No | Dufferin or Commissioners, or the curb |

Common jobs by Scarborough neighbourhood
Scarborough is long and wide, and the housing changes between the lake, the 401 corridor and the north end.
Birch Cliff, Cliffside, Guildwood and West Hill
Streets near the Bluffs mix bungalows, split-levels and larger detached homes, many with deep back yards, ravine edges and steps down to the garden. Long carries are worth showing, so send a photo of the path from the pile to the street. Common jobs are a deck at the end of its life, which starts at $750 for up to 200 sq ft with disposal included, and a worn-out fence at $8 per linear ft, disposal included.
Agincourt, Malvern and the 401 corridor
Townhouse complexes and apartment buildings along the north side of the 401 produce move-out loads: sofas, beds, a pile of boxes. A single mattress or box spring pickup is $99. If the complex has a shared dumpster, ask the property manager before you leave bulky items beside it.
Scarborough City Centre and the condo towers
High-rise condos near Scarborough City Centre need a freight elevator booking and a loading dock slot. Reserve both, send us the time window, and include a photo of the path to the elevator. The City's oversized item page describes set-out beside a garbage bin and gives no separate steps for multi-residential buildings, so building management decides how bulky items leave.
Ravine lots, long driveways and access
A steep drive, a rear lane or a lot that backs onto a ravine all change how we load. We carry everything out by hand, so the further the pile is from where we park, the more the job takes. Tell us about stairs, gates and narrow side yards before the day.
For basements, we haul out furniture, old carpet and boxes in the same visit. If the basement needs a partial strip-out, that is a separate tear-out job in Toronto and is covered on our basement demolition page. Homes built before about 1990 can have asbestos in floor tile and plaster. Testing is the owner's cost, and work stops if we find suspect material.
