Junk removal prices in Downtown Toronto

You pay by the load, not by the hour. One or two items is $119, a 1/8 load of about 2 cu yd is $169, a 1/4 load is $259, a 1/2 load is $389 and a full load of about 16 cu yd is $599. Prices are in CAD and before 13% HST.

The included weight runs from 100 kg to 1,000 kg depending on the tier, and extra weight is $200 per tonne from the scale ticket. A sofa with a couple of chairs is usually an eighth to a quarter load. We confirm the volume on site before we start, and same-day service adds $50 when the day has room.

What Toronto collects downtown

Downtown is part of the City of Toronto, so the City's oversized and metal items collection applies to houses. There is nothing to book. Set the item beside your garbage bin on garbage day with 0.5 metres between items. Every house and multi-residential unit pays an annual oversized and metal items fee, $23.23 for 2026, whether or not the service is used.

Condo and apartment residents are treated differently in practice. The City directs multi-residential residents to their building's designated area for oversized items, so ask your property manager where that is and when it is emptied. The City does not collect drywall, lumber, cabinets, tile or other renovation waste at the curb, and it does not take household hazardous waste or tires.

The City depot closest to the district is Commissioners at 400 Commissioners Street. It is open Monday to Friday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., and closed on weekends. Garbage and renovation waste is $189.86 per tonne with a $19 minimum covering the first 100 kg, and a deposit of at least $40 is taken before you unload. A safe motorized vehicle is required, and bicycles and walk-ins are refused, so a depot run needs a car.

Condos, freight elevators and loading docks

Much of Downtown Toronto is high-rise condos and apartment towers, and the building often decides how a pickup goes. Many towers require the freight elevator and the loading dock to be booked in advance, and some ask for a deposit or limit move and delivery hours. Ask the front desk or the property manager for the rules before you pick a day.

  • Book the freight elevator and the dock with your building, and tell us the booked times when you call.
  • Tell us the route from the unit to the elevator and the dock, and how many floors it is.
  • Ask whether bulky items can go to the building's designated area, since some can and some cannot.
  • Keep hallways and the unit door clear so the carry is short.

Common jobs by Downtown neighbourhood

Downtown covers a small area with very different buildings, so the job changes from one neighbourhood to the next.

Yorkville, the Financial District and the Entertainment District

Towers here produce move-out loads at the end of a lease or before a sale: a sofa, a bed frame, a desk and a stack of boxes. Furniture-only jobs are on our furniture removal page. A single fridge on its own is $169, refrigerant included.

CityPlace, Harbourfront and the waterfront

The waterfront has a large number of condo towers, so freight elevator and dock bookings come up on almost every job. A single mattress or box spring pickup is $99, and bigger loads follow the posted load prices. Tell us the elevator and dock hours and the route from the unit, and we plan the carry around them.

St. Lawrence, Corktown, the Distillery District and Cabbagetown

The older streets east of Yonge have 19th-century houses and converted heritage buildings. Stairs can be steep and narrow and parking is limited, so tell us how many steps there are and where we can pull up. Renovations in older homes lead to tear-outs: a kitchen tear-out is from $1,800 and a bathroom is from $1,500, both hauled away in the same visit and covered on our kitchen demolition page. Condo renovations usually need building approval first.

Parking, laneways and carry distance

Downtown streets are busy and curb space is tight. A loading dock, a laneway or a reserved spot near the entrance keeps the carry short, and a long walk from the unit to the truck adds time. Tell us where we can park, whether there is a lane at the back and how many stairs are between the room and the street.

Homes built before about 1990 can have asbestos in plaster, vinyl floor tile and popcorn ceilings. Testing is the owner's cost, and work stops if we find suspect material. We do not take paint, propane, chemicals or asbestos.

How to book junk removal in Downtown Toronto

Call us, tell us what is going and where it is, and we give a price from the posted rates. Pick a day, book the elevator if you are in a tower, and we lift and load. We are insured. If a room needs to come apart first, tear-out and haul-away happen in the same visit, and our Toronto demolition work is on the demolition page. The garbage removal page explains what the City will and will not take.
