Hours, peak times and getting in

For garbage, yard waste and renovation waste, Disco Road is open Monday to Friday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and closed on weekends. Household hazardous waste and electronic waste run on shorter hours: Tuesday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. So Saturday is open for hazardous and electronic items only, and nothing is open Sunday.

The City gives priority to its own and contracted vehicles from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 3 to 5 p.m. If you can, arrive outside those windows.

The City's site map, dated May 2019, shows the entrance on Disco Road and the exit onto Carlingview Drive. Garbage, recycling and yard waste vehicles go straight to the weigh scales. A vehicle carrying only hazardous or electronic waste goes directly to the depot for those items and does not need to be weighed. Site layouts change, so follow the signs and the staff on the day.

Hazardous waste pause in October 2026

The City's notice says household hazardous waste is not accepted at Disco Road from October 13 to 26, 2026, because of repair work, and that the depot stays open for all other materials. Outside those dates the City's listing shows hazardous waste as accepted. Check the City's locations page the morning you go.

What Disco Road takes and what it does not

The City lists these items as accepted at Disco Road: garbage, yard waste, renovation waste without drywall, household hazardous waste and electronic waste. Blue Bin recycling is also on its list for this site, but since January 1, 2026 City depots take recycling only from commercial properties, charities, institutions and similar groups. Residents should use curbside recycling.

The City's renovation waste list includes baseboards, bathtubs, cabinets, countertops, doors, fencing, insulation, lumber up to 4 feet, plaster, pressure treated wood, roof shingles, siding and tiles. Fees apply.

  • No drywall. The City accepts drywall, up to 1 tonne, only at Bermondsey, Ingram and Commissioners.
  • No mattresses. The City takes them only at Commissioners and Dufferin, for a fee of $142.40 per tonne. You can also set one out at the curb as an oversized item.
  • No metal is listed for Disco Road. The City lists metal, including appliances, at Bermondsey, Commissioners, Ingram and Dufferin.
  • No tires. The City is not accepting tires at any depot until further notice.
  • No concrete, brick, cinder blocks, asphalt, gravel, paving stones, rocks, soil, sand or sod. Contact a private company for these.
  • No mixed loads. Garbage mixed with recycling is turned away, and so is any prohibited material.

Fees and load rules at Disco Road

Every load needs a deposit of at least $40, based on the size and type of your load. The scale weighs in 5 kilogram steps. After you unload you return to the scale, the final fee is worked out and you get a refund or pay the difference.

Garbage and renovation waste cost $189.86 per tonne, which the City writes as $1 per 5.27 kg or part thereof, with a $19 minimum covering the first 100 kg. The City's own example: 205 kg of garbage costs $38.92. Yard waste is $142.40 per tonne, and loads under 20 kg are free. The City charges a heavier load for its full weight, not just the weight over 20 kg.

Your vehicle must be a safe motor vehicle and the load must be secured and fully covered by a tarp or similar. You unload it yourself in the area staff point to. Only the driver leaves the vehicle in the unloading area, and safety boots are required in designated areas. The City recommends protective equipment.

The shared rules, such as the six steps of a visit and how the scales work, are on the Toronto transfer stations guide. This page keeps to Disco Road.

Hazardous waste and electronics at Disco Road

Paint, propane, batteries, aerosols and similar products are not garbage. Disco Road has a separate depot for household hazardous waste and electronic waste, and both are free for residents. The City sets a limit of 50 litres or 50 kilograms in total per day, and 5 gas tanks such as propane.

Pack liquids in sealed, labelled, non-leaking containers, keep different products apart, and take batteries out of devices. The City also runs the free Toxic Taxi, which picks up 10 to 50 litres or kilograms from residential customers by appointment through 311. Our hazardous waste guide lists what each depot takes.

When it is easier to have us haul it

Disco Road suits a car or pickup load of garbage or renovation scraps on a weekday. It is harder when you have a sofa that will not fit your vehicle, a mattress, drywall or an appliance that Disco Road does not list. Then you would be driving to a second depot, or paying a hauler anyway.

We are a private company, not the City. We load it and haul it away from your home, priced by the load. Posted prices, before 13% HST: $119 for one or two items (up to 1 cu yd, 100 kg included), $259 for a 1/4 load, $389 for a 1/2 load and $599 for a full load of about 16 cubic yards with 1,000 kg included. A single mattress or box spring pickup is $99.

We quote from photos and confirm volume on site. We are insured. If everything is already outside at ground level and ready to load, the load price is 10% off. Same-day service is plus $50 when the schedule allows. We try to recycle what we can, and we do not take paint, propane, chemicals or asbestos. See junk removal in Etobicoke or our furniture removal page.
