Ingram Transfer Station: hours, fees and what it takes

Ingram is one of the City of Toronto's drop-off depots, at 50 Ingram Drive in North York. This page is from a private junk removal company, not the City. It sets out the hours, fees and rules the City posts, and what to do with the things Ingram turns away.

Ingram Transfer Station hours, address and fees

Ingram Transfer Station is at 50 Ingram Drive, North York, and the City lists it as one of its Drop-Off Depots. Vehicles report to the weigh scales on arrival. Hours and fees below were on the City of Toronto's pages in October 2026. They change, so check the City's page or call 311 before you drive over.

The big difference from most other depots is the clock. Ingram runs 24 hours a day from Monday morning until Saturday at 12:30 p.m., apart from a short pause each night, and it is one of three depots that take drywall.

What Ingram accepts

The City lists these for Ingram: garbage, yard waste, renovation waste (clean drywall up to 1 tonne), metal, household hazardous waste and electronic waste. It also lists Blue Bin items, but since January 1, 2026 City depots take recycling only from commercial properties, charities, institutions, religious groups and City departments, agencies and corporations. Residents use their curbside collection for recycling.

Renovation waste is the reason many people drive to Ingram. The City's list includes baseboards, bathtubs, cabinets, countertops, doors, fencing, insulation, plaster, pressure treated wood, roof shingles, siding and tiles. Lumber must be 4 feet or shorter. Fees apply to all of it.

Drywall at Ingram

Only three depots take drywall: Ingram, Bermondsey and Commissioners. The limit is 1 tonne, and the drywall has to be clean. The City asks you to remove nails, screws, metal corner beads, ceramics and wood first. The City's regulations page also lists drywall, scrap metal and other construction, demolition and renovation waste as prohibited at its transfer stations, which contradicts its depot pages. We follow the more specific depot and accepted-items pages, but call 311 before you haul a big load of drywall or metal.

Metal and appliances

Metal at the depots includes auto parts, bicycles, lawnmowers, tools, pipes, cable and large and small appliances. Take batteries out of battery-powered items first. The City treats batteries as household hazardous waste.

Hazardous and electronic waste

Ingram has a separate drop-off area for household hazardous waste and electronic waste, and it is free. If hazardous or electronic waste is all you have, you do not need to be weighed: follow the signs and unload there. The City sets a daily limit of 50 litres or 50 kilograms in total for hazardous items, with extra limits such as 5 gas tanks and 20 fluorescent tubes. Paint, propane and other chemicals all count. We do not take those in a junk removal load, so this is where they go.

What Ingram does not take, and where to go instead

Mattresses are the common surprise. The City accepts them at only two depots, Commissioners at 400 Commissioners Street and Dufferin at 35 Vanley Crescent, North York, at $142.40 per tonne since July 1, 2026. The City also says residents can set a mattress out at the curb on regular garbage day as an oversized item. If neither fits, mattress removal is one of our posted prices.

Concrete, bricks, cinder blocks, asphalt, gravel, paving stones, rocks, soil, sand and sod are not accepted at any City depot, and neither is asbestos. The City tells people to contact a private company for these. Tires are not being accepted at depots until further notice, and the City points to the Resource Productivity and Recovery Authority for other tire drop-off locations.

Wood longer than 4 feet, and loads that mix garbage with Blue Bin recycling, are turned away as well. If you are sorting a basement or garage, set the wrong-length lumber and the recycling aside before you load the car.

  • Mattresses: Dufferin or Commissioners, or the curb as an oversized item.
  • Concrete, brick, soil, asphalt: a private company only. The City does not take them.
  • Tires: not accepted at any depot until further notice.
  • Paint, propane and chemicals: Ingram's hazardous waste area, free, or the City's Toxic Taxi pickup, which you book through 311.
  • Drywall when Ingram is too far: Bermondsey (188 Bermondsey Road) or Commissioners (400 Commissioners Street). The City noted delays at Commissioners from October 26 to December 18, 2026.

How a visit works and what it costs

The shared steps are on our guide to every City depot. In short: a safe motor vehicle is required, loads must be secured and tarped, and walk-ins and bicycles are not allowed. You are weighed on the way in, you pay a deposit of at least $40, you unload yourself, and you are weighed again on the way out so the final fee comes from the net weight. Scales round to the nearest 5 kg.

At Ingram the garbage and renovation rate is $19 for the first 100 kg, then $1 for every 5.27 kg or part thereof. The City's own example: 205 kg costs $38.92. By the same formula, 400 kg costs about $75.93, an estimate that the City has not published and that its part-of-a-unit rounding may change slightly. Metal and yard waste are cheaper per kilogram, but a load over 20 kg is charged for its full weight.

Two timing rules matter. During peak periods, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 to 5 p.m., the City gives priority to its own and contracted vehicles, so allow extra time. And the depot is closed on some holidays. The City lists all sites open on Remembrance Day (November 11, 2026) and closed on December 25 and January 1.

If you would rather not drive it over

At a depot you do the loading, the driving, the waiting and the unloading yourself, and the City charges by weight. If that is not how you want to spend your time, we load it and haul it away.

Our prices are posted and priced by the load, before 13% HST. The minimum pickup is $119 for up to 1 cubic yard with 100 kg included, a quarter load is $259, a half load is $389 and a full load of about 16 cubic yards is $599 with 1,000 kg included. A quote comes from photos, and we confirm the volume on site. We are insured.

When everything is already outside at ground level and ready to load, the load price is 10% lower. Same-day service is plus $50 when the schedule allows. A single mattress pickup is $99. We try to recycle what we can. We do not take hazardous waste such as paint, propane, chemicals or asbestos, so take those to Ingram's hazardous waste area.

We do junk removal across Toronto and the GTA, including North York, and demolition and tear-out in the City of Toronto only. If your Ingram trip comes from a renovation, see our bathroom demolition service.
